BruinLife’s photographers shoot thousands of high-quality photos throughout the year to add to the visual appeal of the yearbook. Their work entails aspects of both photojournalism and stock photography. Together, the staff contributes heavily to the all-color book’s attractive illustrative design.
-The BruinLife Photography staff is involved in shooting various topics for articles to be printed in the yearbook, but also various photo projects in the BruinLife Magazine, BruinLife Blog, etc.
-As a photographer, you are responsible for quarterly yearbook assignments, attending all staff meetings and photography staff meetings. Shooting a minimum of 2 photo assignments per deadline for the yearbook (7 deadlines)
-Pitching ideas, covering a range of events and topics for the BruinLife blog.
-Shooting a minimum of 1 photo assignment per week for the BruinLife Blog
Applicants do not need prior photo experience to apply for this job. There will Student Media training sessions taught by professionals, staff workshops, and office hours available for guidance. However, due to the nature of the position, photographers with basic knowledge of photography will be preferred.
Please note that mandatory photo training for new staff photographers will occur on the weekend of January 26-27 (only 1 day) and February 2-3 (only 1 day). Location and times TBA.
